After graduation in 2019 from TU Delft in the Netherlands, I moved to Denmark and started working for Cadeler (then Swire blue Ocean) as a Project Engineer.

Since then, I’ve been working as a Project Engineer and Project Manager on different WTG T&I projects, both in the preparation/engineering phase as well as during project execution.

Which parts of the job do you enjoy most?

One good part about the job is the variety in tasks we have. There are tasks where I need to do a feasibility check, doing a quick calculation or review a document in detail. Other tasks are much more related to the bigger picture, creating an overview of the steps or tasks required to get a certain outcome. And then there have been days where I joined the vessel, either offshore or in port to prepare for a project. On those days you don’t see your laptop much, but you get to see the practical implementation of your work.

What is the best part about working for Cadeler as a company?

There are of course multiple benefits of working at Cadeler, but for me one of the best parts is to work in a company that is growing and taking on new scopes in a market that is constantly developing as well. It means we get to solve many puzzles and challenges, learning a lot along the way. There is a lot of room for initiative in the company. If you have a good idea that will help the company or the department grow there’s a high chance that you get the opportunity to work on that. The other great thing about working for Cadeler is the informal atmosphere and the way of working together with colleagues. There is a lot of room for social activities and a really good working environment. It's never boring!

What are you working on at the moment?

I have just started to work on Cadeler’s first Foundation T&I project; Hornsea 3. This project is different than the WTG T&I projects I’ve been working on for the past 3.5 years, as Cadeler’s scope has gotten a lot bigger. This means we get to do a lot of things for the first time, with a big project team and many new interfaces to the client and other subcontractors.

This is exciting because it allows me to work on new topics within engineering, such as tool design, logistic planning and setting up the best installation methods for the foundations. But it is also very interesting to be part of this team from the start and be involved in setting up the structure of how we will execute this project for the coming years.
