Hristo

What do you do as Technical Designer for Cadeler?

I design deck layouts, prepare lifting checks, assess vessel positioning, perform 3D clash analysis, and make sure the vessel technical documentation is well maintained and up to date.

Have you always known this was what you wanted to do?

I have always been interested in science and engineering, and I always knew this was something that I would be doing in the future. Having an engineering and construction background, combined with my software skills, has made me a great fit in the wind industry.

Which parts of the job do you enjoy most?

It is exciting to find optimal solutions within given constraints as every project is unique and requires a different approach. Also, the daily communication with professionals inspires me to develop my skills further.

What motivates you when you wake up in the morning and go to work?

It feels great to know that today we will install one more wind turbine that will power up thousands of homes with renewable, clean energy. I still remember my first project 4 years ago. It was my first wind turbine. Now we have installed a few hundreds of them!

When have you felt most proud of your work? Can you remember a specific task or challenge that you faced, and how you came across it?

During an O&M project we had to replace a full hub with three blades offshore. The challenge was how to control such an assembly during the lift due to its size. I have designed a concept of retractable beams on the vessel (tagline arms) that were approved by our client and implemented.

Another challenge was a boulder removal campaign for tender with a strict deadline, where I had to identify the number and type of boulders to be removed for 100+ offshore locations which I managed to complete in less than two days.

What is the best part about working for Cadeler as a company?

Cadeler has a great company culture with experts in different fields that one can learn from. It is exciting to be a part of a diverse and an international company that strives to change the world to a better and more sustainable place.

What are you working on at the moment?

Currently, I am a part of the ongoing Seagreen, Hollandse Kust Zuid projects, I prepare vessel positioning drawings and lifting checks. I also assist the Sales Department in various tender packages with deck layouts, lifting and 3D clash checks.
